Gratitude

Due to the end of the year at school, my children have brought home all their work and notebooks.  Amongst them I found a book of gratitude that Breton had to do.  Here are some entries he had made.  I have his permission to post them and probably will post a few throughout the summer.  I took photos of the pages and realize they are a wee bit difficult to read.   I plan to scan any others I may post.

PS I am VERY grateful for Breton and Daphne

I kept a book of gratitude for a few years and it helped me through one of the toughest times in my life, the passing of my Mom.  I realized in even tough times there is always something to be grateful for.  I still have my books of gratitude but I do not keep one today....if you are reading this I am grateful for YOU!

My Best Teacher Gift Ever!

In my class we have Show & Tell.  More specifically we have Alphabet Show & Tell.  We go through the alphabet and each week there is a letter of the week.  The students, on Friday, bring in an object that begins with that letter sound.

We then conclude it with an Alphabet Buffet.  Each student is assigned a letter or two and they must bring in a food item that starts with that letter.  Sometimes they have to be creative (like for letters q,  u, z...).

Well this year, as our end of year teacher gift, Manon and I received an Alphabet Box of gifts!  One of my Moms took the time to organize the box, assigning and collecting the gifts.

When I was handed the box Thursday morning, I broke down and cried.  I know the time and patience it requires  to put it all together.  Thank you Stephanie!  It meant so much.

Of course we opened it with the children and turned it into a lesson.  They were adorable, so proud coming up to show us what they had contributed.

Manon and I both feel that this year has been one of the best years we have ever had!  The support of the parents and their adorable children made it so easy to come to work and have FUN!  Our classroom family ROCKED!!!  It was a great balance for me considering everything else.

To Manon:  I love you and I could not have gotten through this year without you.

And to the lovely ladies of MM: It was a great ride!  I thank you all immensely for your support, in and out of school:)

PS.  Yes that is my heart...on my sleeve...that is where I like to wear it.  Be careful with it

Don't judge me

Here are some things I do that others may not agree with:

I drive with the window down and the A/C on at the same time.  I just love the tunes blasting and maybe others want to hear but I also want to be cool???!!!

I will put dishes back in the dishwasher that may have come out dirty the first time I washed them...a new position in the dishwasher may make them get clean better

I eat in bed all the time

I like my alone time and need a balance of both

Following a religion is not for me

I have used the dregs of milk in my students' drink container, for my tea.  I always ask first:0) and you do not want  to see Miss Robyn without a cup of tea in her system

I have worn a dress to a party and then returned it later

I did not enjoy breastfeeding

I drive to the park, which is just down the street, in order to throw the ball for my dog

What we passed on while antiquing

The Thinker on her thrown

There might have been a dead mouse in the tub with me???

The Queen and her crown

I see you!

This basket would have held Ruby....should have got it for her, for her 5th birthday on June 13th:(

Brilliant idea for a baker!

These cracked me up!! Go BIG or go home!

Yes we found buried treasure in all this "stuff"

We were afraid for our safety up here...

Adventures in antiquing...

So this past Saturday,  Michelle picked me up and we went looking for stuff for my house.

On the list was:

bookshelf
dining chairs
coffee table
a chair
end table

This is what we found:

Partner in crime and the knowledgeable one.  By no means an antique herself. 40 and fine;)

Yes that is a birdcage!

A Maddie chair!!  I have been sitting in it ever since it came home.

End table, use to hold records!

Coffee table/foot rest.  Is actually a fireplace mantle.

Bookshelf: actually going to store board games.

What everyone needs to hang their hockey jerseys on

I am such a knob (the pic is the wrong way:) Old doorknobs as hooks

Ventura Blvd Tattooing

So for a very long time I have wanted my nose pierced and last week I did it!

Sorry Dad:(

I finally found someone to hold my hand, Natasha. She got hers done too.  As she reminded me this has not been our first time to a tattoo shop together:)  Last time we got tattoos!  I will blog about her one day because she has over 100 tattoos and they all have a story.

Honestly it did not hurt like I had thought (after hearing stories of others who got it done).  Paul, piercer, was awesome!  So kind and he explained everything as I sat there with my eyes shut while sitting on my hands.

The most traumatic moments were afterwards...when I was cleaning away the crust of blood (Ewwww!) from the tiny diamond, that night.  Nearly gagged.  And the next morning when I was cleaning the outside part around the nose ring, with a wash cloth, and the entire ring came out except for the hook part!  I couldn't even look at it in the mirror, I just kept on trying to push it back in...and it wouldn't go in...it took about 4x.

I broke out in a cold sweat and had to go gulp some fresh air.  I wondered what would have happened if I had passed out.  I was home alone.  I think I may have to invest in one of those medical alert necklaces with the button on it!  "Help I have passed out cuz of my nose ring and I can not get up!" (actually that wouldn't work I probably would be unconscious so I would have to hope I fell on the button...)

Will have to re-think that one.  Who wants to be my emergency contact? Jab the nose ring back in my nose! Hahaha! Yummy!;)

Enjoy the pix!

Ribfest

Went to Ribfest on Sparks St last night.  Uncle Sam's...I have had better.  Will try Camp 31 or Billy Bones next time.  It was packed.  Waited in line for 30 minutes.  Pulled pork was yummy but spicy and the ribs...they are the reason I will not go back:(

;)

Starting over can be nerve racking and overwhelming but then it can be sooooooo much fun heeheehee! :P

Another proud moment last weekend

So my kitchen tap had been leaking H2O from its base for a couple of weeks on and off.  By last weekend it was really leaking...so I had to do something.

Thank goodness for Youtube.  I typed in "how to fix a Moen kitchen sink faucet that is leaking"  Learned that I most likely had to change the cartridge.

Off to The Depot (Home Depot), got some help and then ended up going to the cash and the part was FREE!  It was under warranty:)

Downloaded the video and followed it step by step and abracadabra I fixed it!

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Happy Dad's Day, Father! :)

I love you very very much!

I am proud when the stranger said I look like you and when others say B looks exactly like you!

I hope you have a great day!

A rare childhood photo of Dad.  He was always taking the pictures and never in any of them:)

Glamping Part Deux (we were in Quebec:)

More pix from my adventures in Glamping...

Back at the yurt!

Dirty camping fingernails.  Yes I ate with them like that!

Beautiful scenery on the way to Lusk Caves...we never found them that day...

Anyone remember The Blair Witch Project??  Manon and I had a few hrs where we were lost in the deep woods...I was thinking we would have to ration our nuts we brought and we'd be sleeping in the forest that night...I did not tell her that

We found friends while lost

Selfie in the washroom

Drying out our shoes after the "adventure" in the woods.  My shoes later melted...just a bit

Manon emptying the shitter

Thinking of my kids on my first weekend without them:(

Bad girls drive a truck with a huge trailer on the back!
