Snowflakes & KARMA

I am in big trouble!!  With my friend Natasha's hubby Ranz now living here with his amazing talents...

He did Breton's name on his wall and now I have his artwork on me!

We were at a party and I left with two new tattoos!

The snowflake is for the winter Olympics.  I just love the Olympics!

No really... the snowflake represents all the snow we have had this year.

Come on, if you know me I wouldn't waste a tattoo.  Mine all have significance.

Snowflake = one of a kind

This tattoo is my actual handwriting but it wasn't done with a transfer. I wrote the word out several times, stretching it out so it wouldn't clump together once on my arm,  Ranz looked at my sample and recreated it free hand.  He is so precise.

What you do comes back to you.  I truly believe this.  Good deeds, kindness and genuine happy beliefs come back to you.

Also vice versa.  Negativity will infect you and you will never be content.

Come cozy up

Remember this post on Facebook:

The weekend before the put it together yourself furniture had you pulling out your hair then this weekend you ditch the allan? Key and get your own nuts and bolts. Then the Home Depot guy tells you to "get your husband to..." and you tell them there is no go home and get it done. FU patio furniture!
If you read this you are invited to come over and test it out! BAM! I am that good!

Well I bought another "project" from Home Depot:

This one was easier then the patio furniture, yet there were a few mix ups, miss placed pieces and wrong screws used but it is done! And when it tells you to use a screwdriver, when you have a drill...use the drill (so much faster, only a few stripped screws;)
Now our ground floor will be warmer and cozier.  Also got it for an awesome deal!!!

Ran- dumb?!?

Have you been to Skyzone yet?  It is a huge trampoline place, off of Conroy.

The pix are blurry but now you have to
Buy these funky sox in order to go tramping.  The first time we went we had to rent shoes...kinda gross.
It's a great work out but for my older lady friends, one piece of advice...pad up!

Hershel :(

Do I really need to say anything?

If you are a Walking Dead fan you know:)

PS: if I had to pick my character from the show: I am Maggie!!

Had this shirt made using Spreadshirt.

Ok so I won't be getting any Olympic medals but I did gain some respect from B & D...what did I do?

I fixed the carpet/kitchen floor connection (ok I have no idea what it is called!!!)

It only took 3 trips to Home Depot:

1-bought the wrong size (too small)
2-thought I would Macgyver a hard wood flooring piece and make it work ( learned I am not Macgyver and never watching the show didn't help:)

***borrowed a saw in order to cut above and the new piece

3- bought the right piece, cut it forced it to fit,  got compliments from my kids!!!

Anyone wanna help lay new flooring this summer? Parquet?

I am thankful for:

The Lady Gaga lip sync performance B & D did for me last night:)

Also for the way Daphne so uniquely express herself and Breton's new love for Russell  Peters and his imitations of him.

Slip sliding away

The kids and I always make a trip to Jacques Cartier Parc for the Winterlude ice slides.  It was cold this morning but we quickly warmed up.  They changed the set up somewhat this year and added a few pay activities (zip lining and bungee) this year.  Oh and a giant inflatable beaver.  Seem a lot of people using photo of themselves in front of the beaver, on Facebook...

The ice slide lines move quickly.  Lots of snack options.  We had Beavertails. Entertainment. Parking available for $10!

Breton took this one!
Two beauties found racing on ice slides!!!

Warm soup on a cold day...

Is there anything better than a good bowl of soup for lunch after being outside on a cold day?  Well I don't think there is and currently this recipe is my favourite:

But make sure you add the bacon and the cheese!!!

  • 2 russet potatoes, washed and dried
  • 1 small head of cauliflower, stem removed cut into florets
  • 1 1/2 cups fat free chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups 1% reduced-fat milk
  • salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 10 tbsp reduced-fat shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 tbsp chopped chives, divided
  • 3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (you can use turkey bacon if you prefer)

Pierce potatoes with a fork; microwave on high for 5 minutes turn over and microwave another 3 - 5 minutes, until tender. Or if you prefer to use your oven, bake at 400° for 1 hour or until tender. Cool.Peel potatoes.

Meanwhile, steam cauliflower with water in a large covered pot until tender. Drain and return to pot. On medium heat, add chicken broth, milk, potatoes and bring to a boil. Use an immersion blender topuree until smooth. Add sour cream, half the chives, salt and pepper and cook on low another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat. Ladle 1 cup soup into each bowl. Top each serving with 2 tbsp cheese, remaining chives, and bacon.

Crazy Canuk on the Canal

Ok so we didn't really see any crazy Canuks on the canal last night but if you don't go skate the canal this year I might think you are crazy:)

It was fantastic last night.  Winterlude just started that day.  We started at Dows Lake, there wasn't any activities going on there but lots of open ice.  The kids had Beavertails (no judging Jenr :) and syrup on the snow. Yummm

Breton wants to skate the whole thing so I am sure we will get around to it and we already have plans to go to Jacques Cartier park ( can you say ice slides )!!

See you there!
