Beautiful treasure? Or a brass washer:(

I reached for it and finally got the brass ring! Ok I reached down and picked it up.

Found this "ring" one morning at Mama T's High School, while walking Ruby.
It is nice and dainty. But I am thinking it is just a brass washer that has fallen off something?
Did a search on Home Depot and found nothing similar...
Do you know if I have found a beautiful treasure or hardware?
It fits perfectly!

It's Tuesday

Do it yourself Tuesday. This is what I have done
Changed a fan and blower on my electric fireplace.

Changed the element in my stove. Not because I wanted to get home to cook dinner as the buddy in Home Depot suggested:p

Fixed the ceiling vent and repaired the duct work

Caulked

Wallpapered

I use to wait to have someone else do these jobs. I don't like waiting or asking someone to do it. I post these cuz anyone can do them. I love that my kids see me do them on my own, at times easily and other times frustrated or requiring several attempts but at least I try.

Continues to be a work in progress

So Daphne and I patched all the holes and rough spots in my bedroom.  Now they have to be sanded down but there is no way I am doing it now!  The dust would be flying!  I plan to wait for the spring or summer, when windows can be opened.
Still haven't decided on colours either.  After watching Sherlocke Holmes I have even considered wallpaper!! Big bold print...
I will have to take a trip to The Depot and look at some.
Keep ya posted:)

Check out this bedroom

Come cozy up

Remember this post on Facebook:

The weekend before the put it together yourself furniture had you pulling out your hair then this weekend you ditch the allan? Key and get your own nuts and bolts. Then the Home Depot guy tells you to "get your husband to..." and you tell them there is no husband...you go home and get it done. FU patio furniture!
If you read this you are invited to come over and test it out! BAM! I am that good!

Well I bought another "project" from Home Depot:

This one was easier then the patio furniture, yet there were a few mix ups, miss placed pieces and wrong screws used but it is done! And when it tells you to use a screwdriver, when you have a drill...use the drill (so much faster, only a few stripped screws;)

Now our ground floor will be warmer and cozier.  Also got it for an awesome deal!!!

I DID IT!!

Ok so I won't be getting any Olympic medals but I did gain some respect from B & D...what did I do?

I fixed the carpet/kitchen floor connection (ok I have no idea what it is called!!!)

It only took 3 trips to Home Depot:

1-bought the wrong size (too small)
2-thought I would Macgyver a hard wood flooring piece and make it work ( learned I am not Macgyver and never watching the show didn't help:)

***borrowed a saw in order to cut above and the new piece

3- bought the right piece, cut it forced it to fit,  got compliments from my kids!!!

Anyone wanna help lay new flooring this summer? Parquet?

Sink Fix Re-do

So remember this photo?  I had fixed my sink based on a Youtube video...well it was fixed for a bit and then it started to leak again...and then drip from the tap!  I took everything apart and then put it back together again.  It worked for a bit but then the handle was super loose?!

So back to Youtube I went and found another video.   Actually it was a two part posting.  The first part explained what I had already done, then the second one showed me how to take the entire tap and spout off and install two rings (washers?)

To get the rings I went back to Home Depot and again the parts were part of a Moen warranty and therefore free.  The gentleman at Home Depot did start to speak to me as if I was...(I will be nice), a child but after I explained how I had already changed the cartridge I got some respect:)

At the same time the bathroom sink was dripping, if it was shut off in the cold position.  AHHHHH when it rains it pours!  But it was basically the same deal, free parts and easy removal of tap and cartridge...and done by watching another Youtube video for bathroom faucets.

This time Breton was my assistant because I think it is important that he see how things are done.

As of today, two weeks later, no drips or leaks!  HOORAY!

Another proud moment last weekend

So my kitchen tap had been leaking H2O from its base for a couple of weeks on and off.  By last weekend it was really leaking...so I had to do something.

Thank goodness for Youtube.  I typed in "how to fix a Moen kitchen sink faucet that is leaking"  Learned that I most likely had to change the cartridge.

Off to The Depot (Home Depot), got some help and then ended up going to the cash and the part was FREE!  It was under warranty:)

Downloaded the video and followed it step by step and abracadabra I fixed it!
