why I haven't...

  • Social media changes all the time and I can't keep up...I don't know how to add badges, to code, if I am on the best blogging site, what should I add or get rid of etc etc etc

  • It is like having another job.  I can spend an entire day blogging if I wanted to.  This would let me schedule blogs to be posted in the future, in the end freeing up time but for a hobby sometimes it feels like a job.  A job that doesn't pay...

  • I originally started the blog hoping it would lead to "work", so far I got a $50 gift card and a chance to promote a Yummy Mummy Club (YMC) event which earned me some $ and an adventure with Paul. Read about the event here here and here

  • I have not always been in the right "mood" or felt "up" for blogging

  • My iphone SE doesn't allow the Blogger app to be downloaded so, anytime anywhere blogging can not occur, a lot of emailing photos to myself then using old phone, chromebook or laptop to do my blogging = time consuming:(

  • From this post...He contacted me, not Tim W, but the other guy from this post...kinda freaked me out a bit.  I won't publish his response because he doesn't require anymore attention.  I don't want my grade four memory tarnished even more.

  • You stop living in the moment.  I catch myself trying to get a photo so I can use it in my blog and the whole time I am in a moment I am thinking about how I am going to blog about it.

  • People use the blog and social media to "keep in touch" but it ends up being one sided. I don't know they are reading my blog but they do know what I am doing I just don't know what they are doing.  I am happy somebody is reading it...

  • That leads to another reason: I didn't think anyone was reading it. With less than 10 followers not always sure if anyone is clicking social media links.  And I also have to remember that I am doing this as kinda a memory montage for all of us, so i should not care if others are reading.... (but I do)

These are the reasons I have not blogged in awhile...

but I am back!!!

A Humbling Race for an Unimaginable Experience

I have worked with preschool children for 20+ years. In all those years not one of those children had to battle cancer.   But it is a reality for many families.
I have been given the privilege of participating on Team #YMCRun in Sears Great Canadian Run @grtcdnrun. We are doing a 100km relay run from  Toronto to Blue Mountain, on September 12th.  This relay run is in support of ending kids cancers, #EndKidsCancer.
Please check it out and lend your support. Team YMC Run's goal is $10 000

No scoring and everyone gets a medal!

So we have all heard it these days that soccer teams aren't keeping score and at different sporting activities everyone gets a medal or ribbon.

Well Breton was named Captain of his hockey team this year but he wasn't given the "C" for his jersey...

I would like him to have it (1) because I am a proud Mama  (2) there is a sense of pride in wearing that C.  He was given it because he displays the skills and he demonstrates the self control, along with his quiet leadership.

It is true I have noticed other rec teams that have no obvious Captain or Assistants but I think there should be.  Introduce it at the beginning of the season, make it clear that it CAN be taken away due to showboating or lack of leadership (aka being a hot head or bully).

In Breton's situation, he is a quiet guy but having the opportunity to wear the C would give him outwardly pride and confidence.

To be honest, his father and I have stayed away from the politics of the hockey world so far.  We let our son's skills and abilities show his value to the team.

FYI hat trick at the last game!!!

This was posted by the Yummy Mummy Club and it sums up to me how I have raised my children to behave when playing sports.

Random Robyn

So I changed Sundays to Robyn's Randomness from Dear Diary.

Also look to the right and you will see that I am now part of the Yummy Mummy Club!  Very excited.  I have written a few posts for them under the name Robyn Perras but now many more people will have the opportunity to read my daily blogs.

This is my Facebook link:

Here are some random tips:

Wet boots?  Blow dry them.
Daphne's boots kept getting wet so we would put them over the vent or even in the dryer but they still were not getting dry.  The hair dryer worked quickly.

Freeze it:  Whenever I buy the prewashed spinach I always take some and put it in the freezer.  All the leaves freeze individually and then I can grab some whenever I need it, for smoothies, spaghetti sauce, soups.  It is better than the frozen brick of spinach you buy from the freezer section.

What I watching:

We do not have cable so we stream or use Netflix.  This is what I have watched:

Suits (yummy:)
Call the Midwife
The Walking Dead** I put off watching this one, even had to turn off the first episode because it scared me (a wee bit) but then I watched 3 1/2 seasons and I love it!!
Recitfy
The Blacklist
Homeland
The Goldbergs (hilarious)
Girls
