Random Act Of Kindness

Tonight my sister Aimee called me to tell me she received a letter in the mail.  This was not just any letter, it was addressed to Aimee Smith or the current residence of her address.  Inside was a scratch lotto ticket!  That was it...and she won a free ticket after scratching it.  When she told her neighbor, her neighbor mentioned that it had to be a random act of kindness!

She said it put a smile on her face.  It cost 1$ and a stamp to mail it.  Hearing about it put a smile on my face.

I plan to pay it forward.  I have never practiced a random act of kindness beyond holding the door open for a stranger. But never such as paying for someone's order at the drive thru at Timmy's or mailing a lotto ticket anonymously to someone.

But this simple act was truly memorable. It has inspired me:)

We have fun with the fact that B has crackers that share the same name.  Breton actually comes from his Grammie's maiden name:)

I am sad

I am sad because my little girl, my baby is growing up.

The other day, she was playing with her friend and they were dancing and building forts.  I walked into the room and there was a distinct body odor smell. The other girl is a year younger so I knew it was not her.

To be honest I have noticed other changes.  She is only 8 years old, nine in October.  It just makes me so sad.  She is so innocent.  I am pretty open and honest about the human body but I am not ready for this.  She is only in Grade 3...

She just learned to blow a bubble with her gum.  Although, this past week she has asked me to wake her up earlier so that she has time "to get ready" for school.  She never cared before.  She even laughed one morning "I look older than what I really am!" I got sadder.

B got deodorant for Christmas (his favourite gift) in preparation.  She and I went out and bought some and she was not embarrassed (maybe by this blog down the road?) but if I think about it, Grade 4 I was shaving my legs and had started to change too...

Opposites

 

 

These are photos from Daphne's room.  She is my little clutter bug, collector, some would even say hoarder.   This is the opposite of Breton.  Below are pictures of Breton's room.  He frequently purges items that he is not using when he rearranges his room.  He and I are similar.  I have a hard time with the clutter.  At the same time I do not want to crush Daphne's artistic free spirit.  So I shut the door and sometimes purge her room when she is not home:)  But that has run me into trouble.  see Robyn's Nest: Daphne!!  http://duhparenting101.blogspot.ca/2011/08/daphne.html

Poppy!

So I have an umbilical hernia.  It normally does not bother me.  Usually only after I have done some heavy lifting.  I will not touch it directly.  It can be tender when in the shower and I am washing my body.

I was going to have you all name it but then I named her myself...her name is Poppy!  She is that little marble like nodule above my belly button.  I had it looked at by my Dr and she said until it really causes discomfort not to worry.

Laundry Issues

Someone pleeeease help me!  I have a few sweaters and hoodies that smell like BO!!  I have washed them in hot water, soaked them in vinegar, even drenched the pits in body spray and also used the new TIDE Sport. 

Nothing has worked:(

I think it is my own fault because I did not wash the stinky clothes right after they became smelly.

Any suggestions, much appreciated:)




Breton's socks after a day of springtime playing outside.

Yes they have been washed but I ended up throwing them out.  I did not care that they got dirty.  I am just glad my son had fun playing outside!

Happy Easter Recap

 

 

 

This Easter we had Auntie Aimee and Auntie Noelle and families over.  I crockpotted a stuffed turkey breast and BBQed another stuff turkey breast (from Farm Boy).  The BBq one was sooo easy and yummy.  The crock pot one doesn't brown so I put it under the broiler afterwards just to crisp it up.  Both were delicious and yes there was leftovers.  I have a habit of getting more food than necessary but as a hostess my worst nightmare is not having enough food for my guests:)  We had 10 people over and maybe half a breast left....mmmmm leftovers.

 

 

 

 

The Easter Bunny also came.  Lots of chocolate plus Just Dance 4 and a hockey stick.  We plan to have our annual chocolate fondue soon to use up some of the chocolate.

 

Hope you had a great Easter too.  Daphne also lost a tooth that night so both the Easter Bunny and the Toothfairy left a treat under her pillow.  She woke me up at 2am to tell me this:)

Worst Guest EVER!

In all my Florida recaps I forgot to thank my Dad & Bev for having us:)

Thank you soooooo much for your support through everything and for all the fun adventures while we were there.  I know that Daphne & Breton made some great memories.  Not sure if B will ever go back after the airplane sickness on the way home but maybe if we brought hockey to the Maple Leaf he'd be there?

April Fools Day

Hi

 

Since carol is away, maybe we should take it as a sign.  a sign that we should try to stay together?  I have realized so much since we have been separated.  I really think we could make it work. Sitting with you watching B play hockey and having lunch together on the weekend...

 

 I know you had mentioned that you prefer my hair dark so I promise you that I will never change it again.  But we could keep our separate residences (once you get your new place) and be together but not live together.  Remember that car driver/racer that had a show, I think his name was John Force(?) that's what he and his wife did.

 

I was also thinking that when we re-do our wills that we should name Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed as the kids guardians.  Right? once we put them in our will and something happens to us, they'd have to take them.  Just think of everything the kids would have and get to do.  And Shannon is Canadian so she'd make sure B keeps up with his hockey.  then they'd have the balance of the arts.  daph would probably get the opportunity to actually perform at some point.

 

Brilliant eh?!
